Weekly Bulletin

President

Gloria O'Dowd

I was born in Woodville and schooled in Taranaki at Tarata, Egmont Village and Inglewood High Schools.  I went to Australia in 1979 for my big OE and met Bill and we married in 1989. I spent 14 years working for an International Manufacturing company in Sydney, in the Customer Service and order department.  I was the Customer Service Manager for 7 years. After this Bill and I ran our own retail business on the Central Coast of NSW for 19 years.  I had by this time spent 36 years living in Australia and we decided it was time to retire and in 2015 returned to New Zealand leaving behind our grown up children. We have 5 children between us, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  All of them live in the Australian states of New South Wales and South Australia.  I have been a Rotarian since August 2006.

MESSAGE FROM YOUR EDITOR:

I hope you are enjoying reading the weekly bulletin. If you have any ideas on how we can improve on it please let me know and I would be very happy to implement if possible.

Some weeks we have little to no photos to include in the bulletin and when this happens I was thinking it would be nice if you would like to have a section for personal photos. Photos of perhaps personal projects, family celebrations, holidays and trips etc. This way we can all learn more about each other.  If you have photos you would like to include please email to me at  traceyrees17@gmail.com

WEEKLY MEETING NOTES
Zoom Meeting
31 August 2021

Greetings Rotarians,

Apologies: Stuart, Bill

Present: Mel, Jim C, Tracey, Warren, Noel, Kevin, Brian, Donald
Thankyou for attending our second zoom meeting.

BUSINESS
Containers for meals have arrived this week.  Although unlabelled at this time, if you feel you would like to use your time to make a couple of meals to put in the freezer, for distribution to our community at a later date, please let me know and I will drop some containers off to you.

Car Show dates of 30th January 2022 will go up this week on our Facebook page.  Gloria will get the job list and duties list out to all members asap.  Discussions will be ongoing.

The alcohol wipes purchased for our support of the Wellington Childrens Hospital Whanau Rooms have been bagged up for 14 places. Mel arranged for compliment slips to go with them and Bill and I will start delivering contactlessly on Friday 3rd September.  Many early learning centres and schools are not yet operating at this level.

Mel made a suggestion that maybe we could help our not so savvy Inglewood residents with Internet banking, mobile phone use and general computer use.  I have been advised that there is some sort of programme running at Inglewood Library and maybe a few Rotarians could help out there.  More information when the library opens again.

NEXT WEEK:
Due to us being in Level 3 for next weeks meeting our speaker will be our very own
Jim Callaghan.  Jim will be talking to us about a Rotary Club of Wellington project he was on the committee of. A youth programme called Eureka.

Lastly,  stay safe
Pres Gloria

UNITED AGAINST COVID-19
Tracey has handy A5 size personal COVID Tracer Booklets for people who do not have a phone which is able to scan QR codes. These booklets will allow people to keep their own records of where they have been, rather than relying on establishments they visit to document it. If you would like any please let Tracey know and she can either deliver or put then in the post for you.

If you have any lockdown photos please send them to Tracey for next weeks bulletin
