Weekly Bulletin

President

Gloria O'Dowd

I was born in Woodville and schooled in Taranaki at Tarata, Egmont Village and Inglewood High Schools.  I went to Australia in 1979 for my big OE and met Bill and we married in 1989. I spent 14 years working for an International Manufacturing company in Sydney, in the Customer Service and order department.  I was the Customer Service Manager for 7 years. After this Bill and I ran our own retail business on the Central Coast of NSW for 19 years.  I had by this time spent 36 years living in Australia and we decided it was time to retire and in 2015 returned to New Zealand leaving behind our grown up children. We have 5 children between us, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  All of them live in the Australian states of New South Wales and South Australia.  I have been a Rotarian since August 2006.

MESSAGE FROM YOUR EDITOR:

I hope you are enjoying reading the weekly bulletin. If you have any ideas on how we can improve on it please let me know and I would be very happy to implement if possible.

Some weeks we have little to no photos to include in the bulletin and when this happens I was thinking it would be nice if you would like to have a section for personal photos. Photos of perhaps personal projects, family celebrations, holidays and trips etc. This way we can all learn more about each other.  If you have photos you would like to include please email to me at  traceyrees17@gmail.com

Donald quizzed us on the dairy industry from Tuesdays Daily News.  Most hadnt read it so the answers were guesses and also the science of green house gasses and their symbols.
Brian asked Jim what he was doing on Saturday (last week)  Jim was a bit concerned but Brian took him for a drive Egmont Village way .  When he got to the destination found out  they were to be taken for a ride in a Bentley Mulsanne – Two tone – 6.75l V8 twin turbo.  Only 2 in New Zealand and only 30 ever made.  It weighs 3.5ton.  Jim even got a back massage whilst he travelled.  Put in a call to Tania and she got to see it on their way down SH 3A.  Jim was flabbergasted. (not sure if this is the correct picture but it looks amazing- this was the last one made)

Mel missed out last week so his turn too.  He advised that HTL Group NP office is having to expand into the building next door.  Pedestrian traffic lights will be going in at Hinau st – on call only.  Enjoyed watching Peter Jacksons “Get Back” documentary about the Beatles. Attending both Junior and Senior prize givings last week at IHS.  Lin Bublitz ex  Principal of IHS has accepted role as Patron.
Zandra is secretary of Welsh Pony society. Over 15,800 ponies registered.  Mel now helping out as there were some issues with roman numerals mucking up the numbers.  Had to correct 1534 records. With Mels help and the Mayors approval, 4 Community Boards , one being Inglewood  will now receive $100,000 to allocate to 4 projects in their area.  Inglewoods 4 projects will be ensuring fairy lights are on all trees in town, a shade over Jubilee Park playground, motor home dump station and renewing Inglewood Town entrance signs.
I finally decided to sell my vacuum cleaner.  All it was doing was gathering dust.
